DEVO is a punk rock and new wave band from Akron, Ohio formed in 1973. The band has 9 studio albums in total ranging from 1978 to 2010. They're also notable for their matching outfits, which change for every album.
The name "DEVO" comes from the concept of "De-evolution" (which is part of their full name, "The De-Evolution Band"); which is exactly what it sounds like, the idea that humanity is beginning to regress instead of evolve. This idea started out as a joke, but would be taken into serious consideration after the Kent State massacre, which was the driving force for the formation of DEVO.
